It's that time of year. Don’t let winter woes get the best of your home. Here are some tips to keep your pipes happy.

Tip #1.png

Allow Faucet to Drip

When the temperature takes a dip, allow a slight trickle or drip from the faucet. Running water through the pipe helps to keep things in a constant state of flow.

Seal Up Cracks and Holes

Caulk any holes or cracks that exist near pipes. These issues are more frequent around hose bibs that run to the outside of your home. Keep the cold air out and the warm air in.

Add Extra Insulation

Any visible pipes, specifically those in areas that do not have proper insulation such as basements, attics and garages need to be properly insulated. This is especially true for pipes leading to the water heater to keep it working in the cold winter months.
